Cheating has plagued the esports community since even the earliest days of online play. This is where the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system comes into play, stopping cheaters in Call of Duty and Warzone.
In Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Vanguard, RICOCHET will play on both sides of the spectrum, from servers to local clients. While players can take some actions, like securing accounts with double authentification methods, Activision needs to fight the unbalanced odds.
RICOCHET Anti-Cheat Client
It all starts with a new PC kernel-level driver, which locks players out of external software that modifies or interacts with games. Its high-level access to software like graphic card drivers allows for wider protection against potential cheating. With cross-play effective on the newer Call of Duty games, console players will also benefit from this new feature.

In addition, server-wide tools will help identify trends with analytics. Gathering intelligence on key indicators could help Activision implement relevant counter-measures. Furthermore, machine-learning technologies will analyze gameplay footage to provide developers with insight into new cheating methods.
Cheating and Privacy
For those worried about day-to-day performances, the driver only operates while Call of Duty games function. It should not take any resources out of players’ systems before and after a gaming session. This also stems from the issue of privacy, dear to many fans of the franchise. There will be tweaks to implement and developers look to make the Call of Duty RICOCHET anti-cheat accessible to most computers and Warzone players.
As cheating tends to find ways around restrictions, Activision still advises players to report any suspicious behavior. Then, after an investigation, it could lead to suspensions for all involved players. Both the kernel-level driver and RICOCHET anti-cheat server-side tools will be available at different times for Warzone and Call of Duty: Vanguard. Every detail of this update can be found in the official blog post.
