After a successful The International 10, Valve has shifted the Dota 2 Pro Circuit esports format for its 2021-2022 season to a Regional League system.

As part of the new schedule for the 2022 Dota Pro Circuit, ESL, DreamHack, and EPICENTER will be the ones in charge of hosting the regional Leagues for NA, Europe, and the CIS regions. Each DPC League now features a prize pool of $280 thousand, divided into the Upper and Lower Division.

Dota Pro Circuit 2022

As for its format, the Dota Pro Circuit follows a seasonal pattern, with three Tours. They all have the same structure, beginning with regional play and ending with a Dota 2 Major. Of course, it culminates at the end of next year with The International 11. However, as the Dota Pro Circuit serves as a qualifier circuit for TI11, only the teams with the highest DPC Points will be able to secure an invite.

The Majors should still be the focus of every Dota 2 esports team, with over 8000 DPC points up for grab (1900, 2700, and 3500). However, the Dota Regional League format now also offers enough points to make a difference (690, 920, and 1120).

Fans will get the first glance of Dota 2 esports on November 29th, which marks the kick-off of the first tour. The first tour will have a break around Christmas for players who wish to celebrate the holidays with their families. The organizers are yet to announce the Major dates, but they usually take place a few weeks after the culmination of the regional Leagues.

First Tour: November 29 to January 23.
Second Your: March 14 to April 24.
Third Tour: June 6 to July 17.

Dreamhack, ESL, and EPICENTER

Dreamhack remains the host of the European Dota Pro Circuit League. Although it is one of the most competitive regions, Europe did not put up a strong showing at TI10. Teams like OG, Nigma.Galaxy, Team Secret, or Alliance will have to do more under the new format. After all, last year’s TI10 finalists Team Spirit and PSG.LG will be the ones to beat.

After successfully hosting the CIS DPC last year, ESL will bring its high-quality production to North America. After some stellar tournaments and leagues last year, EPICENTER takes charge of the CIS region. It has hosted some spectacular events last year, like the OMEGA League or the EPIC League. With its innovative production quality, EPICENTER will for sure make CIS Dota 2 esports something to behold.
