Minnesota Rokkr win CDL Stage 5 Major

Through a long-fought tournament, Minnesota’s CDL team defeated Atlanta FaZe and Dallas Empire 3-1. The squad’s Eli “Standy” Bentz joined back in March and completely dominated the competition. He led the Minnesota Rokkr through their most successful tournament this year, even winning the Player of the Stage award. Minnesota Rokkr now holds strong with 305 CDL points, putting them just above the LA Thieves and Florida Mutineers on the standings.

The event itself was an exciting live event featuring back-to-back Call of Duty esports action. Toronto Ultra even came in as a favorite because of their last major win and nearly won the tournament. But they lost momentum when they were only one map away from winning when the Rokkr found their stride and won five maps in a row, making Call of Duty League history at the Stage 5 Major. The skill difference truly shined on Raid, the ninth map, where Standy’s double kills ended the series.

Call of Duty League 2021

With the end of the CDL Stage 5 Major, this also marks the end of four teams for the rest of the 2021 season. Because only the 2021 Call of Duty League Championship Weekend remains, the bottom four esports teams in the standings see their next games in 2022. Seattle Surge, London Royal Ravens, Los Angeles Guerrillas, and Paris Legion all say goodbye to the 2021 Call of Duty esports season.

The next big esports tournament for Call of Duty comes with the CDL Championship on August 19. Atlanta FaZe looked dominant all year long with Toronto Ultra and OpTic Chicago close behind. Minnesota Rokkr cemented themselves here at the 2021 CDL Stage 5 Major but can they keep up with the rest?
