Modern pentathlon will replace horse riding with another sporting discipline after the 2024 Olympics in Paris, the governing UIPM confirmed Thursday. The move was widely expected after the Tokyo Games earlier this year drew strong criticism for the action of German coach Kim Raisner, who was disqualified for punching a horse, after her rider Annika Schleu’s hopes of gold ended in tears on a mount which refused the show jumping course.
