In addition to a disappointing finish at the VALORANT Champions Group Stage, Sentinels could face another harsh reality. Its in-game leader ShahZaM is reportedly considering a move to full-time streaming.

Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan, former CS:GO esports player, has been the face of Sentinels since Jay “sinatraa” Won left the organization. He has been a huge part of why Sentinels are considered as one of the top teams out there. However, following a bad track record in late 2021, rumors have begun to surface.

Full-time Streaming

Anonymous sources have confirmed that ShahZaM is considering leaving his in-game leader role in Sentinels, potentially making creating content on a streaming platform his full-time occupation. Recently, he has made his disappointment towards the organizers of VALORANT Champions 2021 public. To him, it did not make sense that, for all that esports players have to go through, they would not be paid more than the streamers hosting the event, even if they win the whole thing.

After all, streaming has become very attractive to a lot of esports superstars. Over the years, they have developed their fanbase, alongside performing for their esports teams. Switching to content creation is really tempting, considering its freedom and possibilities. For example, shroud has recently stated that, even though a return to competitive play is not completely out of the picture, he has been enjoying playing New World on stream, something he would never be able to do while having a contract with any teams.

Lately, Sentinels’ performances left its fans quite discouraged. Losing to Team Envy in the first round of Stage 3 Masters – Berlin playoffs certainly did not help. Although Shane “Rawkus” Flaherty, former FaZe player, arrived to be the team’s head coach in November, there is not much he was able to do on such short notice.

If there was a trigger signal that could lead Sentinels players to abandon ship, it would be losing to KRÜ Esports in VCT Champions on December 6. Despite Rawkus stating that there will be no roster changes following this elimination, fans are already piecing things together. After the defeat, Michael “dapr” Gulino changed his Twitter description to “content creator for Sentinels”. With this perspective, ShahZaM could simply be the next man out.
