Samsung and IBM have come to the ongoing IEDM 2021 International Electronic Components Conference to unveil the vertical transport field effect transistor (VTFET). It is a new property of potential next-gen chipsets that, as the two OEMs assert, might one day help build a smartphone that can last up to seven days on one charge.
