Nintendo shocked fans around the world last week when they revealed that the final fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be Sora from the Kingdom Hearts series.
Sora was a widely requested character and fan favorite, but was thought of as an unlikely pick due to his series ties with Disney, but it seems that Nintendo managed to strike a deal with the mouse that will allow Sora to come to the game on Oct. 18.
The character was revealed in a presentation by series creator Masahiro Sakurai, who said that he was also surprised when he learned that Nintendo secured the rights to the character.

Sakurai also revealed that Sora was the most requested character worldwide when Nintendo held the “fighters ballot” in 2015 asking fans who they would like to see be added to the game.
Fans were ecstatic about the reveal, celebrating the fact that such an unlikely fan favorite made the cut.
Sakurai also revealed some new Mii costumes, one of which being based on the main character from the popular FPS Doom, and showed off some new amiibo figures for the other DLC fighters that will be releasing in 2022.
Sora comes from the Kingdom Hearts series, which is an action-packed crossover between the Final Fantasy series and Disney movies, making him the perfect finale for a game full of crossovers.
Sora will be the final fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate bringing the game’s nearly four-year journey since it was originally announced in 2018 to a close. That being said Nintendo doesn’t seem to have any plans of stopping the series, as Sakurai has stated in the past that future entries will feature a cut-down roster from the 82 unique fighters that Ultimate has.
