The late 2nd Doshu, Kisshomaru Ueshiba, son of the founder of Aikido visited and taught classes at the Ten Shin Dojo during the almost 15 years in which Seagal was in charge. Kisshomaru sensei himself granted de 7th Dan rank to Seagal. The 3rd and current Doshu, Moriteru Ueshiba also recognizes the indelible contribution of Steven Seagal to the dissemination and propagation of Aikido;
