President Akufo-Addo has thrown a subtle jab at Former President John Dramani Mahama over the latter’s thank-you tour of the country after the 2020 general elections.

Both Messrs Akufo-Addo and Mahama are currently touring parts of the country.

Whereas Mr. Akufo-Addo is inspecting and commissioning projects, the former presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is also thanking the people of the country for the support they gave to him during the polls.

Asked what his message has been while touring the country, Mr. Akufo-Akufo-Addo said on Accra-based Peace FM Thursday, October 21 that “I’m going round inspecting road projects, schools, hospitals, how far? What are their problems? The response of the people will then help shape the conversations of the government and policy direction.”

“I am also thanking the people for their votes especially Greater Accra, 2020 was not what we had hoped for, we lost some more seats, at least seven. Nevertheless, we have substantial votes here so it is important that I also thank them for the expression of confidence.

Even people who lost the elections are going round thanking people.”

Touching on some of the works he has done so far, he said that his administration has performed well in the road sector of the economy.

He stated that the government is expanding the road network considerably.

However, Mr. Akufo-Addo, said there is still more to be done to give the country a modern road network.

He said “In the first four years the amount of road coverage that has taken place, we are expanding the road network considerably.

“It is obvious even here in Accra you can see the road works that are going on and we are seeing it all over the country.

“It is by no means enough, we still have more to do to give our country the mode road network which it deserves but we are on it.

For me, that is the encouraging aspect of my period as the president, serious efforts are being made to tackle some of the problems, not all will be resolved in my time.”
