Nintendo confirmed that the sixth and final Smash Ultimate fighter is being announced on October 5 with a special broadcast dedicated to this reveal.

“The Final Mr. Sakurai Presents” is the name of this event, further announcing the end of an era. After two whole seasons of new content and characters, Smash Ultimate is by far the most complete game of the franchise now.

Fighter Pass Volume 2

Masahiro Sakurai will share the screen one last time to present the new fighter. Like the ones that came before, he will reveal all of the new character’s abilities through in-game demonstrations. In addition, he is in charge of announcing new content like soundtracks or Mii costumes.

Across an entire year, the Fighter Pass Vol.2 always managed to catch the Smash Ultimate esports scene’s attention. Introducing fan-favorite characters like Sephiroth, surprising players with Steve from Minecraft, and Nintendo offered a viable competitive option in Pyra and Mythra.

As for the final character, the community has long since tried to guess its identity. Between Sora from Kingdom Hearts, Dante from Devil May Cry, and many others, everyone has their favorites.

Final Smash Ultimate Fighter

Despite having a special title, this broadcast’s length will not differ from previous iterations, capping at 40 minutes. Regarding Mr. Sakurai’s future, as he devoted his last 10 years to the game, thoughts of retirement are currently up in the air. His work is a major reason why the franchise is such a success, selling 20 million copies of Super Smash Bros Ultimate around the world.

He himself confirmed that there will not be a third-season pass. However, Smash Ultimate should still receive further updates and content after this DLC and final character. So, events as big as “Mr. Sakurai presents” come to an end with this final broadcast.
