Member of Parliament (MP) for Madina in Accra, Francis Xavier Sosu, is asking the police to deal with criminals, instead of Spiritual matters.
According to him, if prophecies made by religious Ministers appear to create fear and panic then the situation exposes the failure of the regulatory bodies.
The Ghana Police Service recently spoke against doom and gloom prophesies by some religious leaders in the country.
According to the police it is against the law for religious leaders to prophesy death and danger since it breaches the law of causing fear and panic.
However, the Madina lawmaker thinks otherwise, saying that the Constitution has provided individuals with freedom of speech and religion which should not be taken away from them.
Mr. Sosu regretted that there is hypocrisy displayed by some Ghanaians.
He said there are series of criminal cases that need to be attended to, rather than ”the focus on spiritual matters”, Sosu stated.
