GM、北米の8工場を一時稼働停止へ
米ゼネラル・モーターズ（GM）が、北米にある14の生産設備のうち、8工場を一時閉鎖する方針を決めた。理由は半導体不足によるもので、操業停止はここ1か月で2回目だという。この中には収益性の高い「シボレー・シルバラード」などのトラックやSUVの製造を行っていたものも含まれており、収益にも影響が及ぶとみられている。競合であるフォードも半導体不足から8月の売り上げが33％減少、トヨタに関しても世界的な生産量を4割分を減らす方針を発表している（Bloomberg、ロイター、GIGAZINE）。
