周期的な大量絶滅の原因「太陽の双子ネメシス」の存在を示す新たな証拠
太陽系は実は2つの恒星を持つ連星系であるという仮説が存在しています。
そのもう1つの星は「ネメシス」と呼ばれていて、非常に暗く小さい褐色矮星で、太陽から9万5000天文単位という非常に離れた軌道を周回しているとされています。
この問題に関連しそうなある事実が、2017年に科学雑誌『王立天文学会月報（Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society）』に報告されています。
この研究によると、太陽のような星は、基本的に連星で誕生しているというのです。
